Pakistan Air Force F-16 fighter jets shot down two suspected kamikaze drones over Islamabad near Hamza Camp and Sector I-8, triggering high security alert in the capital.

Two suspected suicide drones were shot down over Islamabad on Friday after they entered the capital’s airspace and triggered security concerns.
The pictures seem to show parts of an engine similar to those used in loitering munition drones, often linked with militant groups.
The drones over Islamabad were detected flying toward sensitive locations near Hamza Camp and Sector I-8 in Islamabad.
Soon after the detection, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) scrambled F-16 fighter jets to intercept the threat.
The jets quickly reached the area and destroyed both drones in the air.

Reports say the pilots used the M61A1 Vulcan cannon mounted on the F-16 aircraft to shoot them down.
Because of the quick response, the drones were destroyed before they could reach their possible targets.
Residents in different parts of Islamabad reported hearing the loud sound of fighter jets flying over the city.
Shortly after the incident, some images from the ground appeared on social media.
This has raised speculation that the drones could be connected to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

However, officials have not confirmed who was behind the drones.
Authorities are still investigating the origin of the devices.
It is not yet clear whether they were launched from inside Pakistan or from across the border in Afghanistan.
The incident also led to temporary security measures in the capital.
Flights at Islamabad International Airport were briefly suspended as a precaution.
Security forces across Islamabad were placed on high alert.
Fighter jets also continued aerial patrols to make sure no other drones were present.
Officials say there are no reports of casualties or damage.
Both drones were successfully destroyed in the air before reaching any target.
